Our Story

Located in Saniore, a tiny village 21 km from Telavi, the Estate stretches over 93 hectares, on the fertile banks of Alazani, Lopota and Didkhevi rivers, in the Napareuli micro-zone, at 420 meters above sea level.

In 1797, King Erekle II gifted this land to Garsevan Chavchavadze, whose son, Prince Aleksandre Chavchavadze later inherited the estate and used it both for wine cultivation and a recreational facility for his foreign guests.

Terroir

The local micro-climate, soil varieties and structure contribute to peculiarity of our grapes: Caucasus mountains, and the unique calorific levels of the black slate carried down by the rivers are the secret of our terroir.

The first Golden Medal during the Soviet Era was awarded to Saperavi produced specifically here.

Factory

Our factory boasts a strategic location in the region. It is conveniently located in the very center of the principal micro-zone of Napareuli (Telavi Municipality), which is popular for its rich wine-making history and trademark wine produced in the late 19 th century.

The factory is currently capable of processing 4,000 tons of grapes.

Red Wines

Our red wine portfolio boasts exotic aromas, tones of black plum and dry fruit, berries and fresh marmalade and spices. In addition to producing classic and Qvevri (Georgian traditional clay jars) wines, we age them in French oak barrels. Our Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Saperavi blends are unique – with fruit leather and roasted red fruit aromas, delicate tannins and smooth to medium finish.

White Wines

Our signature white wine is Kisi, dry amber wine with outstanding citrus tones and tingling tannins. Rkatsiteli and Tsinandali (dry white tines) stand out with a touch of pear and white peach, pear and quince aroma and an enticing citrus nuance.

Georgian Wine

With over 500 species of grapes and well-suited conditions for viticulture, Georgia is the cradle of wine. Archeological remains suggest that grape juice was being placed in underground clay jars (kvevri) to ferment as early as 4000 BC.
